The Department of Public Libraries, Karnataka, is set to open two new reading rooms in Hubballi — one in HKR Nagar (Ward 20) and another in SOG Colony (Ward 31). These facilities aim to expand public access to reading spaces across the city. The buildings for the new reading rooms have been provided by the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation and will be managed by local NGOs or youth associations under formal agreements, without any remuneration.
Currently, Hubballi hosts one central library, nine branch libraries, and ten reading rooms. With the addition of these two, the city will have twelve reading rooms in total. The reading rooms will follow the existing operational schedule: open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
