The Opportunity

The Library Technician (2 positions) will support the operations of the Bikram S. Dhillon & Family Medical Library by providing reference, information, and instructional services to library users, as well as by contributing to communications and outreach activities. Assists with the acquisition and organization of information resources for discovery, access, and use by users. Acquires and helps to maintain effective library operations with a focus on information technology tools and library systems.

Please note: the location of work is 4 to 5 days a week onsite, based on operational requirements and subject to change, at our School of Medicine Building in Brampton.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform information desk duties, to include circulating materials (equipment, books, etc), maintaining records of all circulation and resource sharing transactions and utilizing online systems, troubleshooting equipment, verifying interlibrary loan requests, maintaining library collections in good in alignment with circulation and interlibrary loan policies.
  • Provide support for course reserves, copyright permissions and monitoring, audio-visual resources and interlibrary, loans/document delivery services, ensure requests are verified, checked against local holdings, identified, and fulfilled through appropriate sources.
  • Plans, coordinates, and produces publications for library instructions and other promotional materials, including web documents/pages, displays, instructions on using library resources, etc. and monitors user suggestions and forward them to appropriate team members.
