Role Description

The Senior Librarian will oversee the planning, organization, and management of the school library to support teaching, learning, and research across classes Pre-Nursery to XII. This full-time, on-site role, based in Gurugram, includes curating and updating the library collection (print and digital), cataloging resources, and ensuring accurate metadata and records. The Senior Librarian will guide students and educators in effective use of library resources, conduct library instruction sessions, and promote reading and information literacy through age-appropriate programs and activities. Daily responsibilities include supervising library staff and student helpers, maintaining an inviting and orderly learning environment, managing circulation, and coordinating with academic and administrative teams for curriculum support. The Senior Librarian will also contribute to policy development, budget planning for library resources, and integration of technology to enhance access to information.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Library Science and Library Services, with the ability to design and deliver high-quality, student-centered library programs.
  • Proficiency in Library Management and Metadata standards, including cataloging, classification, and maintenance of both print and digital collections.
  • Experience in Library Instruction, information literacy training, and guiding learners and educators in effective resource use.
  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent, with prior experience in a school or academic library at a senior or in-charge level.
  • Familiarity with library management systems, digital repositories, and basic IT tools relevant to modern library operations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with teachers, students, and administrators.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education, child safety, and creating an engaging reading culture.
