As Conference Coordinator, and on behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to extend a warm greeting and heartfelt welcome to the 55th ACURIL Conference, to be held from June 7 to 11, 2026, on our beloved island of Puerto Rico. This edition takes place under the leadership of our esteemed President, professor Loyda Nieves Ayala.
This year, we gather under the inspiring theme, “Libraries, Archives, and Museums on the Frontline: Advocacy, Innovation and Sustainability”, which highlights the essential and transformative role of our institutions as pillars of social development, cultural preservation, and equitable access to knowledg.
Throughout the conference, we will explore how libraries, archives and museums in the Caribbean can:
- Drive social and community development through advocacy actions that create real impact in our institutions.
- Lead with purpose, vision, and commitment toward a more just and sustainable future.
- Transform their services to become inclusive, dynamic, and community-centered spaces.
- Innovate with creativity and sustainability, strengthening meaningful connections beyond collections.
From the Local Organizing Committee, we are working with great enthusiasm to make this gathering a space for inspiration, learning, and collaboration. We trust that each participant will find valuable opportunities to exchange experiences, share best practices, and build alliances that reinforce our commitment to education, culture, and sustainable development in the region.
It is a true honor to host this Conference in Puerto Rico. We hope your stay will be as enriching as it is enjoyable, and that this collective experience will leave you with lasting and unforgettable memories.
With enthusiasm and gratitude,
On behalf of all members of the Local Organizing Committee,
Mariangeli Lugo Zayas
