Nagpur Secures Rs 32 Cr for Five New E-Libraries; Mominpura Muslim E-Library Gets Rs 22 Cr Boost

NAGPUR: In a significant push to upgrade educational infrastructure across Central Nagpur, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has successfully secured Rs 32 crore from the District Planning Committee (DPC) to establish five new digital e-libraries.

The largest portion of this funding—a massive Rs 22 crore—has been earmarked for the ambitious, under-construction Muslim E-Library at Mominpura.

The remaining Rs 10 crore will finance the creation of four additional e-libraries, all aimed at providing modern study environments for students in Central Nagpur’s densely populated and low-income neighborhoods.

Central Nagpur MLA Pravin Datke, who spearheaded the initiative, highlighted that the project is crucial for students preparing for school curricula as well as competitive exams such as UPSC, MPSC, and banking. The new facilities are intended to bridge a gap caused by inadequate and dilapidated existing study spaces in the area, offering affordable access to digital resources, online study materials, and mock tests.

The new Mominpura facility replaces the original 97-year-old Muslim Library, which was demolished two years ago. Officials stated that work on the state-of-the-art building is already underway, with six slabs of the new structure complete. The NMC's long-term goal is to make every municipal ward self-sufficient in educational resources.
