IEEE and Enago Team Up on AI Tech to Speed Up Peer Review

The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), a leading publisher of scientific and technical journals, has partnered with Enago to deploy advanced artificial intelligence technology aimed at streamlining the manuscript submission process and boosting author satisfaction.
This collaboration leverages Enago Reports, a submission screening platform, to provide authors with immediate, actionable feedback on their papers before they enter the traditional peer-review queue.
Focusing on Submission Readiness
The initial phase of the partnership will utilize the Language Quality Checks within Enago Reports. This feature is designed to offer authors customized guidance to improve the English language proficiency of their manuscript, a common barrier to rapid editorial decisions, particularly for submissions from non-native English speaking regions like China, Japan, and Korea.
Subsequent phases promise to introduce screening for specific compliance checkpoints tailored to individual IEEE journals. This full functionality aims to ensure authors meet all publisher and journal requirements, thereby increasing "submission readiness" and consequently, leading to faster editorial decisions.
Dawn Melley, Senior Director of Publishing Operations at IEEE, emphasized the value of this collaboration: “This is a significant step forward for IEEE in our ongoing efforts to support authors... ensuring that the submission process is easy to navigate and provides value to authors, while also reducing the time it takes for peer review, is a critical factor in author satisfaction.”
